Privacy Policy

Playsheet is designed with privacy as a priority. While we aim for a local-first experience, certain features require minimal data processing and tracking.
Data Collection & Tracking
We strive to minimize data collection, but we use the following tools to provide and improve our service:
- Authentication & Cookies: If you choose to log in, we use essential cookies to manage your session and keep you authenticated.
- Analytics: We use basic Google Analytics to collect aggregate, non-identifiable usage statistics to help us understand how the app is being used.
- Local Files: Your personal sheet music (MusicXML, MIDI, ABC) is processed locally on your device and is not uploaded to our servers unless explicitly shared.
- Encryption: User auth credentials are encrypted. Sheet music asset uploads are hashed and go to shared storage to compute leaderboards.
- Leaderboards: Logged-in users participate in scoring by default. High Scores for difficult songs will send a MIDI recording of your session, which will be used in a not yet existing anticheat algo
- Your data won't be sold or used for any nefarious purposes. Trust me - I looked for black markets for MIDI recordings but they don't exist yet :(
Local Storage
We use your device's local storage to save application preferences such as MIDI device selection, theme settings, and library metadata.
Your data will remain on your device unless you explicitly choose to upload it. Note that your browser may clear local storage at its discretion.
